Please have a browse around the site and find out all about our 2008 & 2009 fest.  The Santos Food & Fire Fest has become a bi-annual event.  The 2011 Santos Food & Fire Fest will be held on Saturday 10th September and  the 2013 Santos Food & Fire Fest will be held on Saturday 14th September, both at the Big Rig Parklands, Roma, Queensland.

This festival is dedicated to the significant oil and gas industry in the region and made its debut in 2008 at the Big Rig Parklands.  The event commemorated the "Great Fire of 1908", where during the drilling of a well, gas was discovered and an accidental fire resulted, which burnt for 45 days!  Trains were run from Brisbane to Roma to allow visitors to experience the event and as such, the "Great Fire of 1908" became very famous throughout the state of Queensland.

The Food & Fire Fest is a dazzling spectacle of food, fire & fun that lingers long in the memories of those fortunate enough to experience it.  Fire and light dominate the festival, and the Big Rig Parklands, aglow with lanterns, provides a stunning backdrop for markets, multicultural cuisine prepared by Roma's own Multicultural Community Chefs, a great variety of alluring entertainment and a host of fire-related activities.

The 2009 festival commemorates the naming of the town.  Roma was named after the wife of Queensland's first Govenor, who moved to Australia from Zykynthos in the Ionian Islands off Greece, in 1859.  Her name was Lady Diamantina Roma Bowen.  This years Food & Fire Fest will be bringing a Mediterranean feel to the event by incorporating a little Greek authenticity, while also celebrating the oil and gas industry.

Santos Food & Fire Fest makes for a great family outing full of great experiences for all ages to take home.  Meander through the markets, try the multicultural cuisine and relax in the Parklands to some live entertainment while witnessing some fantastic fire art.
